Aims for the Year
  • enhance hand-skills in preparation for GCSE coursework
  • develop skills to follow a written drawing to a high degree of accuracy
  • develop knowledge and understanding of metal and to use it in a design situation
  • ensure students can draw accurately in orthographic and isometric modes
  • develop research skills
  • develop knowledge and understanding of structures and mechanisms

  • Learn to work together whilst making a batch of a product
What we will do
  • make a money box to a high degree of accuracy from a working drawing
  • research, design and make
    • a piece of pewter jewellery
    • a piece of jewellery using enamelling technique
  • use Isometric / Orthographic / Geometry and Presentation Skill booklet to ensure that pupils are working to their highest potential
  • 14 weeks ICT unit

Assessment
  • practical skills – observed in classroom and marked out of 20
  • regular marking of homework
  • Key Stage 3 levels of attainment will be based on the year 8 clock project and the year 9 towel holder project
