| What we will do |
Five units of work will be covered before the National Curriculum
tests in May:
-
Reaction of metals, Applications of Chemistry and Environmental
Chemistry
-
Fitness and Health , Plants and Photosynthesis, Inheritance
-
Electricity , Energy, Gravity, Space, Forces, Pressure
- Preparation for the National Curriculum tests with mock
examinations and revision classes
- After the National Curriculum tests work begins on the
GCSE science course

| Assessment |
- at the end of each unit pupils sit a test
which assesses their knowledge and understanding investigative
skills and study skills are assessed in each unit,
- pupils
are provided with handbooks that explain how these skills
are marked
- during the course of each unit two skills
will be identified and assessed
- for each assessed activity pupils are awarded
one of three levels-credit, merit or special

| Ways you can help |
- encourage the pupil to use their Science
Handbook.
- They should make use of the criteria when
completing assessed work.
- encourage your child to revise before each
of the end of unit tests.
