Aims for the Year
  • help pupils become largely autonomous in the use of computers and all major software programs
  • introduce pupils to modelling using basic computer tools
  • collect information/data from a variety of sources
  • research the effect of ICT on society and its development over recent years
  • present information/data using a variety of software

What we will do
  • use more advanced features of Microsoft Word
  • use of Internet for research and data gathering
  • introduction to databases and the use of Access
  • modelling and measuring using MswLogo
  • graphics using MsPaint and 2-D design
  • create and develop computer models using FLOWOL
  • create web sites using FrontPage
  • improve systems to make them fit the users’ needs
  • presentations using advanced features PowerPoint
  • provide access to ICT rooms after school and lunchtime
Assessment
  • regular monitoring of the tasks set
  • class activities and discussion
  • end of year formal written and practical tests
  • assess software projects using criteria linked to National Curriculum levels
