Drama

Aims for the Year
  • build upon and extend basic skills learned in year 7
  • approach more sophisticated themes and issues and deepen the level of work produced
  • encourage pupils to make more decisions of their own and experiment with different Drama forms
What we will do
  • whole class, small group and pair improvisations based on a variety of social and historical topics.
  • whole class performance to other year 8 pupils at Christmas and at end of Summer Term
  • Focusing on a variety of drama stimulus including poetry and script.
Assessment
  • pupils are assessed on:
    • ability to adopt and sustain a variety of role, so understanding of Drama form
    • ability to work effectively with others
    • ability to develop ideas in a challenging and creative way
    • ability to use voice and body language when using a script
Ways you can help
  • take pupils to the theatre
  • visit places where street theatre takes place (eg Covent Garden)
