| What we will
do |
The
year eight course is divided into six units each lasting
approximately six weeks.
In Biology pupils study:
Food And Digestion;
Ecological relationships. Respiration, Microbes and Disease
In Chemistry pupils study:
Atoms, Elements,
Compounds and Mixtures.
Rocks and Weathering; The Rock
Cycle
In Physics pupils study:
Heating and
Cooling; Magnets and Electromagnets. Light, Sound and Hearing

| Assessment |
- knowledge and understanding are
assessed through end of unit tests
- investigate skills and study skills
are assessed using criteria which are found in the pupil
handbooks.
- during the course of each unit
two skills will be identified and assessed, these
are in handbooks
- for each assessed activity pupils
are awarded one of three levels-credit, merit or special.

| Ways you can
help |
- encourage your son/daughter to use
their Science Handbook, they should make use of the criteria
when completing assessed work
- encourage your son/daughter to revise
before each of the end of unit tests, there is a checklist
at the front of each booklet which details the work that
they must know.
