Curriculum Yearbook

ART

Aims for the Year
  • to consolidate teaching from Key Stage 2
  • teach and raise deeper knowledge of the artistic elements of line, tone, texture, shape, form, space and colour
  • explore and collect visual information and communicate ideas through the processes and use of different media experiences
  • develop skills and knowledge of the design process in the making of art and craft
What we will do
  • investigate the works of artists associated with themes, and or media, using SELF IMAGE to allow pupils to explore their personal identity by creating images that reflect ideas of themselves
  • use observation to evolve designs based on feelings about buildings and space, linking to the work of architects, designers, artists and sculptors
  • through the exploration of landscapes, places and the environment, study an approach to colour and styles of artists
Assessment
This is continuous on:
  • a weekly basis where class work is monitored and homework is marked, it is set most weeks
  • a termly basis as projects are completed where work is evaluated by both pupils and staff
  • a yearly report where standards of achievement are recognised on the evidence of what students have produced
  • homework is set and marked every two weeks
  • an observational test
Ways you can help
  • purchase a school sketchbook; provide a soft B pencil and painting materials to assist with homework, most items can be purchased through the school
  • check to see that pupils use their Art handbook to assist with homework, written work, vocabulary and assessment
