On Monday
22nd January, the year nine hockey team went to Coopers for
the Under 14 hockey rally. We had to play Abbs Cross, Emerson
Park, Frances Bardsley and Coopers.
Our first game was against Frances
Bardsley, which we won, 1-0. In the first minute. Grace Sales
scored the only goal of the 12-minute match. It was an exciting
game to watch; with Rosie Harlock (Hall Mead Goalkeeper) making
some excellent saves.
Hall Mead's next game was against
Emerson Park who we expected to be quite a tough opponent, but
we played very well. Again, Grace Sales scored the first goal
of the game, soon followed by Bethany Langston. By the second
half, we were ahead 2-0 but we were determined not to let Emerson
Park score. As the team were trying very hard, with some great
set-ups from some of the players, Grace scored another goal
and the final score was 3-0 to Hall Mead.
Our third game was played against
Coopers Coburn, who we knew would be hard to beat, but we were
determined to try our hardest. In the Coopers team there were
many county players, therefore Hall Mead found it hard to maintain
their confidence. One shot by Coopers was saved by Rosie Harlock,
which then went on to hit Gemma Shall in the head. This wasn't
anyone's fault, but it must have hurt! Alex Helsby was quickly
rushed on as Gemma sat with ice on her head. The final score
was 3-0 to Coopers, who played very well, and went through to
the final as winners.
Our last game of the evening
was against Abbs Cross who had played well throughout the tournament.
They progressed very quickly, and as this was the last match
of the evening, Abbs Cross were at the top of their game. The
Hall Mead team on the other hand were very tired after playing
so well in the other matches. The final score was 0-0, and luckily,
this was enough to get us a Runners-Up place in the final. This
means that Hall Mead will be going to Sacred Heart on Monday
5 th February to play the winners of the Sacred Heart section.
Grace Sales was nominated Hall
Mead player of the tournament as she contributed well to the
team, and she scored some excellent goals.
WELL DONE TO ALL PLAYERS! |
