| Hall Mead School sets homework
in most subjects. We believe that homework plays an integral
part in each pupil's learning and expect that parents
will wish to support us in this matter.
Each pupil receives a variety of set work.
It is important for parents to appreciate that not every
homework set is written. Indeed, homework is set in many
different forms; for example, it may involve research,
discovery, small practical tasks, coursework, revision
or the continuation of work begun in class. Each homework
is not necessarily a self contained exercise; one piece
of work may be set over a period of several weeks.
Each homework set to Lower School pupils
should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. In Upper
School, the expectation is of at least 45 minutes work.
Parents are provided with a homework timetable soon after
the beginning of each academic year. Homework will normally
be set according to this timetable, although, in some
subjects, it may be set every week.
Every pupil is provided with a diary in
which all homework is recorded. We believe that both the
School, through form tutors, and parents have a role to
play in monitoring homework and supporting pupils in this
important area. We ask for the co-operation of parents
in ensuring that each child devotes sufficient time to
the work which is set and that a suitable place is found
at home to ensure that concentration can be maintained
in order to ensure that the highest possible standards
are achieved. |
