The Information Communication Technology (ICT) Faculty is housed
within three rooms (ICT A, B and C). Each has 25 computers, an
Interactive whiteboard and projector. The Faculty is staffed by
three specialist teachers: Mr Cotier (Head of Faculty), Mr Abdilla
(Head of Business Studies) and Mr Brown (Head of Business Communication
Systems). Key Stage 3 pupils receive
one hour of week of discrete ICT teaching, although they use ICT
in many other lessons throughout the week. The school currently
has over 200 networked computers outside the ICT area, including
around 60 laptops, which pupils use throughout the curriculum.
In Key Stage 4 pupils can choose
from two options in the ICT Faculty:
- GNVQ ICT – which is equivalent to 4 GCSEs
- Business Studies GCSE – in this option pupils sit
an extra GCSE in Business Communication Systems and so gain
2 GCSEs from one option.
The Faculty is proud of the ICT provision offered throughout
the school and the support we provide for this as well as
the result achieve d in our own area. This is achieved through
hard work and considerable expertise, particularly by the
technical staff: Mr Zalicks (Network Administrator), Mrs Zalicks
(Website Manager) and Mr Gilchrist (ICT Technician).
ICT C is open to pupils every lunchtime, except Friday, from
12.30 to 1.15 pm and after school each night until 5.00 pm.
We would welcome volunteers who would like to offer assistance
during these times to give more support to pupils and alleviate
the pressure on the ICT specialists.
We also run evening classes for adults in the European Computer
Driving Licence course, for more details on this follow the
link at the bottom of this page
If you would like to contact the ICT Faculty to ask questions
